Haha, you're right, that's very similar and also counterintuitive. It sure is frustrating though, when you need to run a variety of errands and aren't a local who has memorized where everything is!

Great post! You know, when I first heard about the Hotelling Line, which is at least similar to what I think you're talking about with all of the carpet dudes next to each other, I totally didn't believe that that would actually happen in reality. The worthless-shit-market in Rio changed my mind... a section of cheap cellphone chargers, then a section of hair accessories, etc. Who'd have thought that an economic model would actually get something right...?

The event that you describe happens when the film breaks
in the projector gate. It can look scary because all of a sudden the appear flame and burning on the screen and of course there is no sound. The fire is in fact very very small. It is made larger by enlargement of projection.
The system must be very poor because these days a viewer should not witness this type of event. The venue projectors should have a stop roller shut down mech that kills the light source when the films stops it motion and is trapped in the projector gate. That you could not find any one to attend to the situation and an operator was unaware is very very bad.
